Before the dawn of Covid both Burleigh Sr., Mary Harris, and Burleigh Jr. were busy with touring, recording, and all the trappings of careers in music. Meanwhile the daughter Sierra, sidelined from music with a misdiagnosed throat nodule, was working in the Peace Corp in Thailand. When Covid landed all were home for a family wedding not aware that this would be their home for the next two plus years. A lot can happen to a large family during that time as in the loss of both Mary’s parents, a beloved God daughter, Darcie and the studio manager, Coda, the great Australian shepherd. Despite and because of these events music and songwriting was ever more important to the mental wellness of the family. And it was with great joy and pride that Mary and Burleigh Sr. experienced the creative and mature compositions their son and daughter were writing. One idea led to another and soon a collection of songs was taken place that reflected not only the loss of loved ones but the encouragement and support those loved ones showed towards this music. So out of life’s tragedies came the birth of something beautiful, the TIN DRUM FAMILY BAND and their first release EMERSON STREET, the place where both son and daughter were raised and still exists today.
Joining the family on this album are other family members David Harris and John Wood, and our favorite musicians Marc Bonilla and Devon Geyer. The group is already starting a new collection of songs and is receiving offers for live performances this coming summer.
